Who are the new ministers chosen by Montenegro and where were they?

Prime Minister-designate Luis Montenegro presented this Thursday to the President of the Republic the names of the ministers of the minority government of the PSD and SDS-PP, before taking office next Tuesday at the National Palace of Ajuda.

Paulo Rangel
He currently holds the position of Vice-President of the National Political Commission of the PSD, is a university professor, lawyer and MEP in the European Parliament.

He is also Vice-President of the PPE Parliamentary Group; Chairman of the Schengen control group; Permanent Rapporteur of the European Parliament on Bosnia and Herzegovina.

To these political positions, as of this Thursday, the role Minister of State and Foreign Affairs.

He was president of the SDP parliamentary group; Deputy Secretary of State to the Minister of Justice; Member of the Assembly of the Republic; First President of the European Parliament Delegation for EU-Brazil Relations.

Joaquim Miranda Sarmento

Manuel Castro Almeida
He graduated from the Faculty of Law and is a lawyer, he will Deputy Minister for Territorial Cohesion. Between 2013 and 2015 he was Deputy President of the Municipal Council of São João da Madeira and Secretary of State for Regional Development in charge of European funds.

Pedro Duarte
He was an elected member of the Portuguese Parliament from 1999 to 2011 and Secretary of State for Youth. Pedro Duarte, a law graduate, was the national director of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s first presidential campaign in 2016. In 2024, the Social Democrat will become Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.

Nuno Melo
