The former inspectors of the Service for Foreigners and Borders (SEF), convicted for the death of Ukrainian citizen Igor Homeniuk in the premises of the disappeared Service for Foreigners and Borders at Lisbon airport, left this Friday for a dangerous prison for the next three days.
The precarious license, the first given to three convicts, allowed them to spend Easter at home. A CMTV Exclusively captured the departure of former inspectors from Evora prison, who were forced to return late on Sunday evening.
The decision was made simultaneously for all three by the corrections judge of the Evora court, the judicial body that considers applications for temporary and conditional release.
Luis Silva, Bruno Souza and Duarte Laja were sentenced to nine years in prison for aggravated grievous bodily harm. They reported to Évora prison in August to serve out their remaining nearly six years after being under house arrest since 2020.
According to the prosecution in the first case, Igor Gomenyuk died of slow suffocation after being attacked with kicks and sticks by inspectors, as a result of which the Ukrainian citizen broke eight ribs. They also left him handcuffed with his hands behind his back, face down, with difficulty breathing for a long time, resulting in cardiopulmonary arrest.
