The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested 27 people this Wednesday for violent crimes linked to support groups Benfica and Sporting CP. It also includes the crime of disobedience and the crime of participating in a fight.
Authorities are complying with 29 arrest warrants and 30 house search warrants in Lisbon and Setúbal against “random” individuals associated with these support groups.
OUR cm You know that out of 27 arrests, 26 were made under warrants and one at the crime scene for possession of a firearm. Two weapons were also seized.
According to the PSP statement, this operation followed several episodes of violence that took place in the capital. Dozens of operatives “connected with the criminal investigation” are involved, as well as soldiers of the NPR.
The detainees will be heard this Wednesday at the Criminal Court and a pre-trial detention order may be issued.
