The first meeting to prepare the 2024 budget proposal, held between the Azores Executive and Chega, was chaired by the President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolheiro, and attended by the Regional Secretary for Finance, Planning and Public Administration, Duarte Freitas, from the Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security Mónica Seydi, Regional Secretary for Youth, Housing and Employment Maria João Carreiro and Regional Director for Budget and Treasury José António Gomes.

José Manuel Bolheiro concluded on Friday a round of hearings for parties with parliamentary seats and social partners as part of the consultation process on the preliminary proposals for the regional plan and budget for 2024, which failed on November 23, 2023, with votes against IL, PS and BE, as well as Chegi and PAN’s abstention, which led to the fall of the regional executive and calls for early elections.
