The government program was approved today by the Council of Ministers and submitted to parliament

The program of the XXIV Constitutional Government will be presented this Wednesday to the Assembly of the Republic at the end of the morning, after approval by the Council of Ministers.

The document will be handed over to the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, at 11:45, followed half an hour later by a press conference of the Council of Ministers, which will take place from 9:00. , at the official residence of the Prime Minister to approve the document.

The council of ministers was announced on Saturday by Prime Minister Luis Montenegro at an informal meeting that brought together the entire government in Óbidos, where he told the media that work on the program was already “very advanced.”

“Work is always underway to formulate, coordinate and draft projects, but we will continue to work in the coming days. On Wednesday at 9 am we will have a meeting of the Council of Ministers, at which we will approve the Government Program and send it to parliament,” he said then.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also assured that “election campaign commitments must be fulfilled.”

On Tuesday afternoon, the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, had already announced that a symbolic moment was being agreed upon for the presentation of the government program to Parliament by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pedro Duarte, which would take place at the end of the leaders’ conference.

Last week, at the end of the first meeting of the Executive Council of Ministers, Presidential Minister António Leitan Amaru refused to answer whether the government’s program would be much different from the electoral program.

The electoral program of the AD (the electoral coalition between PSD, SDS-NP and PPM for the elections on March 10) expects, among other commitments, the presentation of an Emergency Plan for the National Health Service (SNS) in the first 60 days of the Executive and the full restoration of the frozen seniority of teachers in stages. over the next five years (at a rate of 20% per year)

Reducing IRS rates to the 8th income level (from 0.5 to three percentage points), a maximum IRS rate of 15% for young adults under age 35, and reducing the IRC rate from the current 21% to 15% per three years (based on two percentage points per year) are other promises expressed in the AD electoral program, as well as increasing the national minimum wage to 1,000 euros by the end of the legislature, raising the average wage to 1,750 euros. euros and an increase in the base value of the Solidarity Supplement for Senior Citizens (CSI) to 820 euros in 2028.

The program of the XXIV Constitutional Government will be presented and discussed in the Assembly of the Republic from Thursday to Friday, and after the conclusion of the debate the executive will assume all functions. The PCP announced a proposal to reject the document, but the PS has already stated that it cannot be implemented.
