PS Parliamentary leader Alexandra Leitan announced this Wednesday that the Socialists will abstain from voting on proposals to reject the government program presented by the PCP and BE.
“The PS, through its secretary general, has already stated that in this first stage it will not block the commencement of government functions and will therefore make the government program viable by refraining from proposals for rejection,” Alexandra Leitan told reporters in a statement after his election as parliamentary leader of the PS .
It was at the end of the vote for the leadership of the Parliamentary Group of the PS that the Socialist Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos refused to make statements to journalists and sent Alexandra Leitan the first reaction to the XXIV Government Program, known this Wednesday.
Asked by reporters about the government program to be debated in parliament on Thursday and Friday, the Socialist parliamentary leader began by referring to the methodology followed by chief executive Luisa Montenegro, noting that the strategy document is “essentially similar to an election program.” AD,” which, he said, was understandable.
“And, in fact, what led to the inclusion of measures by other parties was done unilaterally and far from any dialogue. The measures they wanted to include were chosen by the government itself, without any serious criteria, without taking into account the priorities that the parties themselves made in their election program,” he noted.
According to the socialist MP, the government has “the right to do this” but cannot call it dialogue “because dialogue means talking, talking, and none of this has been done.”
The PSD/CDS-PP government said today that it has included in its executive program more than 30 proposals from the PS, 13 from Chegi, six from Illinois, three from Livre and another three from the Bloc, two from PAN and only one from PKP. .
According to Alexandra Leitão, the specific program has “some issues of great concern from a PS perspective”, citing as examples “the mention of the review of the decent work agenda”, “the diversion of resources from the SNS to private” or aspects that were agreed upon in the restoration government revenues and which have now “become cautious and complex.”
“Creating the possibility of the government coming to power does not mean that everything should be made possible, as once had to be said,” he warned, explaining that it was for this reason that the PS chose to refrain from the proposals of the communists and blockists.
Regarding the searches that took place today in the Cascais chamber, the Socialist did not want to give any comments “at this stage” and said that the party would wait.
The government’s PSD/CDS-PP program was approved today by the Council of Ministers ahead of two days of debate in Parliament on Thursday and Friday.
Presidential Minister António Leitan Amaro said the document was based on the AD’s electoral program but included “more than 60 measures from the electoral programs of other parties represented in parliament.”
