11 of the 30 suspects detained during the GNR mega-operation in Feira on drug trafficking charges remain at large

This Thursday, 11 of the 22 suspects detained after the PNP’s Operation Tarantula were released after being heard in their first judicial interrogation at the Feira court. The remaining 11 defendants will learn of enforcement action next Monday.

26 men and 4 women out of 30 suspects were arrested last Tuesday as part of Feira’s GNR mega-operation on suspicion of involvement in a drug trafficking network. The police operation followed an investigation that lasted about a year.

The arrests took place in Braga, Porto, Gaia, Feira and Oliveira de Azemeis. During the mega-operation, authorities seized approximately €100,000 in cash, vehicles and corresponding amounts of cocaine, hashish, liamba and heroin. Accounting for seizures has not yet been completed, so values and volumes may increase.

The PNP mega-operation, which was in charge of the PNP’s criminal investigations unit in Feira, had the support of the PSP.
