This Thursday, the Artists’ Rights Office and the GDA Foundation asked the artistic community and the population in general to hold voice screenings, which will take place from Friday at the Egas Moniz Hospital in Lisbon.
The screenings will take place from 12 to 17 April from 9:00 to 16:00 by pre-registration by email or on the GDA Foundation website: https://www.fundacaogda.pt/formularios/rastreio-yes-voice/.
This year, a new feature of the shows, which are held in the voice department of the Egas Moniz Hospital, is the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI), which, according to Clara Capucho, coordinator of the voice department of the Egas Moniz Hospital, “will help detect and identify viruses using the voice,” said he in his statement.
The expert claims that AI will “significantly improve the vocal health of the entire population, as well as artists – actors and singers who use their voice as their main professional instrument.”
According to information published by the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Santo Antonio in Porto, the main warning signs for screening are hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, severe weight loss, pain when swallowing, shortness of breath, nosebleeds.
This year’s voice screenings, organized by the GDA and the local health department of West Lisbon, will be held under the theme “Resound. Educate, Celebrate! in celebration of World Voice Day on April 16th.
