Jaren Gamongan, from Apayao, Philippines, was born with an extremely rare syndrome that affects one in a billion people. The condition is reflected in the boy’s appearance: his face, neck and arms are covered with hair. The child suffers from itching of the body and face when the temperature rises, the newspaper writes Sun.
The child’s mother, Alma Gamongan, believes that this situation may have occurred because she ate a wild cat while she was pregnant, but there is no medical evidence to support her thesis.
After consulting with a doctor about her son’s condition, Alma realized that it was a disease called hypertrichosis. Since the Middle Ages, fewer than 100 cases have been reported worldwide.
Dermatologist explains to newspaper Sun who believes that this disease is hereditary. Although the specialist says there is no cure for this particular condition, treatments such as laser hair removal can help.
