On Thursday, the PNP arrested a 68-year-old man in the municipality of Sabugal, Guarda district, for domestic violence, who, after appearing in court, was left with an electronic bracelet, as announced this Friday.
In a statement sent to the Lusa agency, the territorial command of the GNR da Guarda claims that the arrest was made through the Center for Investigation and Support of Specific Victims (NIAVE) as part of an investigation into domestic violence.
Guard soldiers executed an arrest warrant, which culminated in the arrest of a suspect who continued to inflict psychological violence on the victim, his 64-year-old wife.
The PPR claims that the suspect was present this Friday at the Guarda Judicial Court and coercive measures were applied to him.
The man was prohibited from “visiting the vicinity of the victim’s place of residence (current or future), as well as staying there, was prohibited from contacting the victim and from approaching the victim by any means at a distance of less than 1000 meters, and these measures are controlled by an electronic bracelet,” these measures are “controlled by an electronic bracelet,” the statement says.
