The Ministry of Internal Affairs will meet again on the 22nd with the representative structures of the PSP and the GNR to discuss the requirements for the mission supplement, a platform representative said.
Bruno Pereira, representative of the platform that brings together 11 trade unions and associations of the PSP and GNR, spoke to journalists after a meeting with the Minister of the Interior Margarida Blasco, which was attended by all the PSP and GNR unions.
The president of the National Police Union also said that the minister had suggested that she wanted to “first and foremost negotiate and resolve the issue of complementing the mission.”
The trade union leader also said that the minister considers this issue a priority.
This Friday’s meeting with the PSP trade unions and the GNR associations was announced on Thursday by the Prime Minister in the Assembly of the Republic during the debate on the program of the XXIV Constitutional Government.
Luis Montenegro then said that negotiations would be opened with representatives of the security forces “to resolve issues related to career and remuneration status.”
The government’s program says the process will be initiated “as a priority” for “decent career progression” and “professional and paid development” for police officers, without mentioning additional missions.
The assignment of an additional task to the police, identical to that which the previous government assigned to members of the judicial police, is the main demand of members of the PSP and the GPR, who staged several protests in the first two months of the year. .
