This Sunday’s match between Roma and Udinese was canceled after defender Evan Ndichka collapsed on the pitch.
The player became ill in the 72nd minute of the match when the score was 1:1, and he was taken away on a stretcher.
Rome coach Daniele De Rossi, who replaced Portugal’s Jose Mourinho in January, accompanied Ndicka to the Udinese stadium and the match was suspended after returning to the pitch after speaking with his players, the opposing coach and the referee.
The match must be restarted on another day to complete the remaining minutes.
In a note posted on social media, Roma said the Ivorian centre-back was “conscious and taken to hospital for examination”.
“Come on, Evan, we are all with you,” said the club from the Italian capital.
