The search for Yasin, a 16-year-old boy missing at sea in Vila Nova de Gaia since Friday, has ended.
TO CM the minor’s father left a note of gratitude. “I would like to thank everyone, all the media that were involved in the search, and Yasin’s friends for their support,” he said, adding that he had given up hope of finding his son. “He won’t appear again,” he said emotionally.
Yasina was caught by a wave and carried away by the strong current that was felt last Friday at Salgueiros beach in Vila Nova de Gaia. Friends alerted authorities at 6:30 p.m.
For three days, land, sea and air resources were used, but the young man was never found. From the very beginning, the family closely monitored the search with the support of an NCIS psychologist.
Until Wednesday, maritime police patrols and Captain Douro units will monitor the beaches of Vila Nova de Gaia, taking into account the possibility of finding the young man.
