Costa and Constancio among Pedro Nuno’s guests at the PS 51st anniversary luncheon

Former PS leaders António Costa and Vítor Constáncio are attending the celebratory dinner with which Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos marks the party’s 51st anniversary this Friday, an official source told Lusa.

According to the same source, the luncheon, scheduled for 13:00 in Largo do Rato, will also be attended by founders Alberto Arons de Carvalho, Antonio Campos, José Leitan, José Neves, Liberto Cruz, Maria Carolina Tito de Morais and others.

António Costa and Vitor Constancio are two former secretaries general who will be present at this closed-to-media celebration, joined by PS parliamentary leader Alexandra Leitan.

In a video on social networks, Pedro Nuno Santos celebrated the date, declaring that “today the PS turns 51” and “congratulations,” given that sympathizers, activists, supporters “are grateful to those who founded the Party of Socialists.”

“The PS is a party with a great history. Its history is, in fact, intertwined with the history of Portuguese democracy. At the most important moments of democracy, the PS was present,” he emphasized.

According to the PS leader, the party has “assumed leadership responsibilities” – it is currently in opposition – and “continues to be a party with great ambitions.”

“Today the PS turns 51, proud of its history, but with great ambition and a great desire to build a future full of hope for all Portuguese,” he stressed.
