PCP unveils measures to ‘reverse the decline’ of social media

This Friday the PPC unveiled some urgent measures to “reverse the degradation” of the National Health Service (NHS), criticizing the “multi-government policies” of the PS, PSD and CDS which have paved the “path to destruction” of the service. public service.

“HELL. [Aliança Democrática] does not seek to improve the functioning of the social network, but to continue to devalue it, as the PS government has done in recent years, in order to further stimulate business in the health sector,” said PCP Secretary General Paulo Raimundo. emphasizing that “private will not solve problems.”

Speaking at the presentation of the emergency program proposed by the PCP in the health sector at a hotel in Lisbon, Paulo Raimundo said that SNS reform “is the decisive current issue.”

“Reconstruction of the social network is a requirement for health, socio-economic and democratic development,” he emphasized.

Paulo Raimundo warned that PCP has “no expectations as to what will happen next.”

“We know very well what the SDP and SDS, as well as IL and Chega, want, and this has already become very clear in what is written and in what is omitted in the mentioned government program. And we also know well the fluctuations and obligations of the PS. development of private business, which was given particular importance in the last years of government,” he noted.

For the communist leader, the government’s program “leaves no room for doubt.”

“Care workers are not valued and this is a critical issue for rebuilding the NHS. We are talking only about the motivation plan. But there is no motivation without a specific commitment to evaluate their remuneration, reduce their high workload or improve their conditions,” he charged.

The PCP secretary-general expected “more lack of accountability on the part of the state” in outsourcing services to private companies.

“The government’s PSD and CDS program perpetuates the logic of supposed competition between public and private services for service provision and government funding, which is yet another thinly disguised way of privatizing new parts of the social network. This is because in the healthcare sector, as in others, due to its characteristics, competition is an illusion,” he said.

According to Paulo Raimundo, the private sector will do “whatever is most profitable”, selecting “the users it considers most profitable, and reaching out to the state in all areas where the public sector response is insufficient.”

“This is nothing new, it has been done in other countries with very negative results. The consequences of the policy of privatization of public services are known and studied: adverse selection of patients and pathologies, early discharges, excessive fees without effective control, and much more. matters” is necessary.

Presenting the PCP measures for SNS, Paulo Raimundo also warned that PS, PSD, CDS, Chega and IL will “continue to cut public investment in the name of debt and deficits” when the European Union determines this.

“They will do anything to stoke fears and scarecrows. They will do anything to dismiss the discussion. It will cost everything except to discuss how the consequences of European integration affect us in our daily lives. This will cost everything except discussing what each of the political forces is ready to do in this regard,” he emphasized, looking forward to the pre-election campaign for the European elections, which will take place from June 6 to 9.

The program proposed by PCP is based on hiring more specialists, improving working conditions, improving access to health care, assessing disease prevention and health promotion, ensuring access to medicines, strengthening financial and technical resources, increasing SNS capacity, better organization with democratic governance and discipline the government’s relationship with the private sector and promote its true oversight.
