Rui Rocha classified the IRS reduction measures put forward by Luis Montenegro this Friday in the Council of Ministers as “announcement of four I(s)”.
For the IL leader, the first I stands for “inconvenience” because the “tax cuts that were touted as a ‘fiscal shock'” turn out to be not so much a “reduction in ambition.”
On the other hand, Rui Rocha said that the reduction is “not enough” because it means a profit of two or five euros per month for each taxpayer.
The other one was for injustice, because according to the leader of the IL, “those over 35 years old will not be covered by any measures” and should not be discriminated against for this reason.
The Liberal Initiative president also deemed the proposal “illusory” because it purports to be a big tax cut that is not happening, but he hinted that IL would not vote against it.
