Mortagua says government IRS rate reform is ‘false’ and ‘more unfair’

Mariana Mortagua, leader of the Left Bloc, reacted this Friday to the changes in the IRS tax categories approved by the Council of Ministers.

He states that “it is important that people know that the responsibility for predictions that are made in the future will not rest with this government.” Mortagua says that a “population increase of 200 million was announced, in addition to the reform that already existed.”

He also says that thanks to Luis Montenegro’s reform, young people will receive a three-euro per month increase, “the very young people the prime minister wants to keep in Portugal.”

According to the bloc leader, IRS reform “is a false reform,” adding that the current government has made tax reform “more unfair.” “We need to break down the misconception that these cuts are significant.”

“It is important that the law reaches people so that they really understand what it is about, because this reform is a scam,” he says.
