The ongoing search for the 16-year-old boy, who disappeared a week ago at sea in Vila Nova de Gaia, ended without success this Friday at sunset, the commander of the Douro captaincy, Rui Lampreya, told Lusa.
At 18:34 on the 12th, a young man who could not swim and was on the beach with friends was caught by a wave as he cooled down and was never seen again.
Since then, constant searches have been carried out between sunrise and sunset, but the body of the young Moroccan has never been found.
“From today, the searches will be carried out as part of the normal patrol activities of the local maritime police command,” said Rui Lamprea, confirming that from Monday the searches will be carried out primarily on land. but with its eyes on the sea and led by Marine Police agents and members of the Douro Harbor Master.
Considering the time that has already passed, the hope, according to the commander, “is that the sea will return the body, but this is doubtful.”
The search ended this Friday at sunset, at 20:19.
