Victory in Milan derby brings Inter title in Italy

This Monday, Inter Milan won the 20th Italian football championship in its history, replacing Napoli after defeating rival Milan (2-1) in the derby of the 33rd round of Serie A.

At the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, goals from Francesco Acerbi in the 18th minute and Marcus Thuram (49) in the second half were enough for Simone Inzaghi’s side to confirm the Scepter’s victory in the capital’s derby. ‘, while Portugal international Rafael Lean watched his opponent close the distance thanks to Tomori (80).

The final match of the tour did not end without orders to suspend Theo Hernandez (90+4) and David Calabria (90+7) at Milan and Denzel Dumfries (90+5) at Inter.

Thanks to this triumph, the Nerazzurri now have 86 points in the standings and their eternal rivals can no longer catch them in second place with 69 points, while Juventus are in last place on the podium with a total of 64.

The achievement moved Inter into second place on the champions’ list with 20 titles, breaking a tie with rivals Milan who have 19, a far cry from record holder Juventus (36).

Earlier, Roma fell behind in the battle for fourth place, losing at the Stadio Olimpico to Bologna (3-1), a sensational team in the championship and a direct rival in the classification.

Accurate strikes from Moroccan Osama El Azzouzi (14) and Dutchman Joshua Zirkzee (45) saw the visitors do a very good job, which also allowed Iran’s Azmoun (56) to close the gap in the second half, scoring Belgian Alexis Saelemaekers (65) to “secure” triumph for Thiago Motta’s team.

Thus, the team from the transalpine capital retained 55 points, finishing in fifth place, seven points behind the Rossoblu (fourth), while Daniele De Rossi’s team played one game less than Udinese.

The match in Udine was abandoned on 14 April around the 72nd minute with the score 1-1 after defender Ndichka collapsed on the pitch, apparently due to pneumothorax.

Roma, who lost the tournament eight games later, included Portuguese players Rui Patricio and Renato Sanches among the substitutes, while Portuguese Brazilian Joao Costa was brought on in the 85th minute.
