This Wednesday, the President of Cape Verde will receive the title of Professor “Honoris Causa” from the Higher Institute of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (ISCE) for his work in the development of the archipelago.
“With this award, the Institute intends to highlight the work done by José Maria Neves for the development of Cape Verde, first for 15 years as Prime Minister [2001 — 2016] and now as President of the Republic”, since 2021, has justified ISCE.
This award will be presented to the Head of State of Cape Verde as part of his visit to Portugal to attend the 50th anniversary celebrations on April 25, together with his counterparts from the former Portuguese colonies, at the invitation of Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
José Maria Neves will also take part in the 50th anniversary celebrations on April 25 in the municipality of Seixal, where there is a significant Cape Verdean community.
On Friday, Neves will visit Sines, where he will hold an open discussion with the leaders of the local Cape Verdean association, meet with the community and descendants, and also visit the Amilcar Cabral area.
