The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, this Friday put into effect a decree-law on the execution of the budget, according to a statement on the president’s website.
“The President of the Republic published a letter establishing the rules for the implementation of the State Budget for 2023,” the same note says.
According to the statement of the Council of Ministers, on January 5, the government approved a decree-law establishing the rules for the execution of the state budget for 2023 (OE2023).
“The Council of Ministers approved a resolution-law establishing the rules for the execution of the State Budget for 2023,” he said.
This is a diploma that “aims to ensure proper control over the execution of the budget, necessary to comply with the provisions of the Law on the state budget for 2023.”
The Decree-Law on Budget Execution for 2022 was approved in July after a budget proposal submitted by the previous government in October 2021 was rejected by parliament, leading to early elections and the election of a new government.
This situation led to the approval of a transitional regime for budget execution, which will be in effect until the entry into force of the State Budget for 2022.
In 2020 and 2021, the relevant Decree-Laws on Budget Execution (FEEL) were not published, while the Government considered that the 2019 FEED would remain in force until a new one was approved.
