The Assembly of the Republic and the House of Parliament – Interpretive Center will be open to the public on the afternoon of April 25 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the revolution, with a program including exhibitions, theater and music.
According to the “Parliament with Open Doors” program published by the Assembly of the Republic, the Palácio de São Bento and the new interpretive center located a few meters from it will be open to free visits from 15:30 to 19:00:00 pm 25 -th number.
Parliament is set to host the country’s major political debates, as well as educational events such as a carnation planting or poster workshop.
At 16:30, the Young Portuguese Orchestra will perform in the inner garden, and the exhibition “A Nós a Liberdade — Vieira da Silva” by artist Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908) will be on view. -1992), “an artist with a strong civic consciousness who intensely experienced April 25, 1974.”
The program also includes theatrical animations featuring “six travelers” who will move around the palace and interact with the public, asking for recommendations and opinions about April 25th.
At the Passos Manuel Library, citizens will be able to preserve their memories of April in a small “memory box”.
For the first time, Parliament House is also open to the public – the Interpretive Center, located in front of Parliament House and collecting information on parliamentary activities.
This space will host the exhibition “PREC – Parliament Revisited in Caricature. Parliament in the Press Caricature 1974-76”, and there will also be events such as “Story Time: Wings of Freedom” or a community mural on freedom, aimed at children over the age of six.
