Galamba believes that he will be acquitted in the case of an influential person and does not agree with the transfer of PGR to the Assembly of the Republic.

The former Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba, said this Friday that he believes he will be acquitted in the process of powerful men and does not agree that the Attorney General of the Republic, Lucília Gago, should provide an explanation in Parliament.

“I have a completely clear conscience about everything I did, I know everything I did, I also know everything I didn’t do. I know how this process will end: either by filing a statement or, if there is an accusation, I will ultimately be acquitted,” João Galamba told CNN Portugal.

The former minister and secretary of state of the António Costa administration also said that he had not yet been heard in the process that led to the fall of the Socialist Party government, despite the fact that he had already submitted a “request” for this purpose “immediately after the searches” with which he was exposed on November 7.

João Galamba, accused in this case, said that Lucília Gago is not obliged to give any explanations in the Assembly of the Republic.

“Prosecutor[-Geral da República] he is not responsible to parliament, he does not bear political responsibility for this. I don’t think it’s right and I don’t think it’s the right place for this kind of communication,” he said.

João Galamba, who shared the government with the current leader of the Socialist Party, also assured that he has not spoken with Pedro Nuno Santos “since May 2023.”

“Once upon a time we were closer, so to speak. No. [tenho] at all [falado com ele]. He hasn’t told me anything over the past few months, even on the day of the searches,” assured the former official, who also claims that he left politics due to his procedural status as an accused and will now provide international information and consultations in the field of energy.
