PAN once again proposed in parliament to justify the absence of workers due to the death of a pet, as well as the right to dismissal on their birthday.
The sole PAN deputy introduced a bill aimed at amending the Labor Code and the General Law on Labor in Public Positions and establishing a “regime of excused absence from work due to the death or care of a pet,” a proposal that has already been submitted to the latter legislature.
Ines de Souza Real proposes that workers can reasonably miss one day of work due to the death of a pet registered in their name, and up to two days per year to “provide urgent and necessary assistance in the event of illness or accident.”
“To justify the absence, the employee must provide evidence of the urgency and need for assistance or a certificate confirming the death of the pet, issued by the competent authority, namely a veterinarian or the entity in which medical and veterinary care was provided. was provided to the animal,” the draft says.
The PAN initiative stipulates that the employee must comply with the ordinance-law, which allows three adult dogs or four cats per fire in an urban building, or up to six adult animals in the case of rural or mixed buildings.
The People-Animals-Nature Party today submitted another bill to the Assembly of the Republic, according to which workers have “the right to be released from service without loss of wages on their birthday.”
The only MP foresees that workers born on February 29 will be able to take advantage of the benefit on March 1, and those who work shifts will be able to take advantage of the next day.
“In cases where, for reasons of service, it is not possible to obtain an exemption from service on his birthday, or if the birthday falls on a weekly, compulsory or additional day of rest or on a public holiday, the employee must be granted on the next working day,” adds PAN.
Ines de Souza Real also wants that “by agreement between employer and employee or by collective labor regulation agreement, mandatory holidays falling on a weekly, compulsory or additional day of rest” could be “observed on the Monday of the following week” and those “falling on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday” can be “observed on Monday of the following week.”
PAN explains that this proposal could “increase the confidence, creativity and missionary spirit of workers, since through this measure the employer recognizes flexibility and trust in its employees by giving them autonomy in choosing when to take leave under certain conditions, and avoiding them having to spend days leave to build what are commonly called “bridges”.
