The Lisbon Municipal Assembly on Tuesday decided, on a proposal from Chega, to recommend to the council the creation of a working group led by the Department of Education to combat drug trafficking and drug use in schools.
Introducing the proposal, MP Bruno Mascarenhas from Chega found “the increase in drug trafficking and drug consumption in schools very alarming” and said that Lisbon should become an example of development and security in the country, “placing schools in the front line” in the fight against this problem.
One of the points of the recommendation is that the municipal executive, chaired by Carlos Moedas (PSD), create a working group led by the education department of the Lisbon City Council (CML), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. , the Public Safety Police (PSP), the National Confederation of Parents’ Associations, the Institute of Addictive Behaviors and Dependencies (ICAD) and school principals “for training and awareness-raising activities regarding the dangers of drug use and drug trafficking.”
This proposal was approved by a majority, with PEV, PCP, two independent deputies from Cidadãos Por Lisboa (CPL, elected by the PS/Livre coalition) and PAN voting against, BE, Livre and PS abstaining, and PSD, IL, MPT voting in favor , PPM, Aliança, CDS-PP and Chega.
Another point of recommendation, made possible by the votes against BE, Livre, CPL, PEV, PCP and PAN, and the abstention of the PS, is that the House would work to ensure that the Government increases the frequency of policing in the city. schools, in particular through the Safe School Programme, taking into account the specific risks identified by the working group.
The meeting also approved Chega’s proposal that the municipal executive carry out a broad awareness-raising campaign through the dissemination of information in the city to “prevent and publicize these new threats to the youth” of the Lisbon municipality.
At the suggestion of the Liberal Initiative (LI), municipal deputies recommended that the council compile a list of pests that may be spreading in the city, indicating their causes and the corresponding municipal control plan, and publish this list on the Liberal Initiative (LI) website. municipality.
This pest control recommendation was approved by PAN votes, CDS-PP and Aliança abstained, and the rest of the deputies voted in favour.
At the proposal of the PEV, the assembly also invited the council to recognize the historical and historical value of the art of tile making, to deepen measures to protect and enhance this heritage in the city, to participate in the promotion of applications for SOS Azulejo. Awards, speed up the classification of tile panels in the municipal heritage inventory and explore the possibility of creating a municipal tile day.
Municipal deputies also approved the chamber’s proposals to conclude inter-administrative cooperation agreements with 24 parishes of the city for a total of 3.9 million euros, with the PKP voting against, the rest voting in favor.
In this regard, PS deputy and president of the Benfica parish council, Ricardo Marques, expressed dissatisfaction with the “disproportionality” of the values and the delay in the transfer of funds.
