New York City police entered the Columbia University campus on Tuesday evening and cleared out 30 to 40 pro-Palestinian protesters barricaded in the building, news agency France-Presse (AFP) reported.
A police truck with a ladder approached the occupied building, and journalists saw officers climb to a window and enter the building, AFP writes.
The action took place shortly after 9 pm on Tuesday (2 am this Wednesday in Lisbon) as police in helmets and shields gathered at the entrance to the university.
On Tuesday, Columbia University threatened to expel students who occupied a campus building that day, barricading entrances and unfurling a Palestinian flag to protest Israel’s war against Hamas.
