Cega President Andre Ventura criticized on Tuesday a new proposal for debates between candidates for the June 9 European elections, rejecting a solution that “favors bipartisanship,” namely the PS and PSD.
“If there is another regime, it should be a three-party regime, not a two-party one. Therefore, we will not accept this model of debate, I hope that another one will be found soon,” he said.
On the sidelines of a visit to Feira da Ladra in Lisbon, Chega’s leader was asked about the latest European elections debate proposal sent on Sunday to parties on television, which calls for three debates with all the forces holding seats in parliament. and personal PS and Democratic Alliance (PSD, CDS-PP and PPM).
This proposal came after the first, which included 28 debates, but which, according to Expresso, was rejected by the leaders of the Socialist Party and the Democratic Alliance, Marta Temido and Sebastian Bugalho, respectively.
Andre Ventura believed that this decision “favors bipartisanship when the March 10 system clearly violated bipartisanship.”
“This is something we cannot accept. If they want to have a longer debate, it should be between three people, not two people,” he defended.
The Chegi leader believes that “a proposal was conveyed that there should be equality between the candidates, although we know that there are three parties that have much more votes than all the others, as is the case with PSD PS and He is coming” .
“Although we know that there may be a different regime, since these parties currently represent many more people than others, we accepted the offer to debate with everyone, and I simply did not agree to debate with non-parliamentarians because there is no time,” noted He.
The new proposal, sent on Sunday by RTP, SIC and TVI, includes debates with the eight leaders of the party lists with seats in parliament, simultaneously on 14, 21 and 28 May, as well as a personal meeting between the PS and Aliança Democrática (a coalition that unites PSD, SDS -PP and PPM) on the 23rd, party sources say.
The pre-election campaign for the European elections will begin on May 27 and will last until June 7. European elections are scheduled for June 9.
