Former Finance Minister and current PS deputy Fernando Medina said on Tuesday that there is no guidance on using social security funds to cover the national debt and called the UTAO’s conclusion “false.”
“There was no time during the previous government, when I was finance minister, that any direction was given on the use of Social Security funds to reduce the national debt,” Fernando Medina said.
Fernando Medina is heard Tuesday by the Budget, Finance and Public Administration Committee on the government’s 2023 debt reduction after the Budget Technical Assistance Unit (UTAO) deemed the cut “artificial.”
