On Tuesday, the government said it would begin negotiations with ANA Aeroportos to reduce the construction timeline for the new airport in Alcochete, as stipulated in the concession agreement.
At a press conference after the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, which approved the construction of a new airport in the Lisbon region in Campo de Tiro de Alcochete, on the south bank of the Tagus, the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, explained that the next step that is needed decide whether the contractual obligations of the airport concessionaire are.
The concession agreement signed between the state and VINCI at the completion of the privatization of ANA in 2013 provides for a time frame that can range from 36 to 46 months just for the nomination of a concessionaire for the new airport.
“This is unacceptable, we will start tomorrow. [quarta-feira] negotiations with the concessionaire ANA to reduce these deadlines,” the minister assured.
According to the concession agreement, ANA must prepare an initial “High Level Assumptions Report” within six months, and the government (grantor) must request the preparation of a new airport application within 30 days.
The application must include a consultation report (six month deadline), a site selection report and environmental impact study (12 month deadline), a technical report (18 month deadline) and a financial report (24 month deadline). ).
