According to a question from a communist deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, the fire that devastated the Divino Espirito Santo hospital in Ponta Delgada “has placed the largest island of the Azores archipelago in an extremely difficult situation, while uncertainty regarding the project is increasing. reconstruction, its cost and estimated time frame.”
The fire at the Divino Espirito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada, which broke out on May 4, forced the transfer of all hospitalized patients to various locations in the Azores, Madeira and the mainland.
Paula Santos, quoted in the press release, intends to “receive detailed and reliable information about the existing plans to restore normality in the provision of health care not only to the residents of São Paulo, but also to the Azoreans as a whole.”
The MP emphasizes that HDES, “as the largest hospital in the region, was responsible for providing a large number of specialist consultations and operations on most of the islands.”
This Friday, the President of the Executive of the Azores (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) said that the contribution of the Government of the Republic for the restoration of the Hospital Divino Espirito Santo (HDES) should be 85%, which is what happened. with Hurricane Lorenzo.
