The Portuguese head of state, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, expressed this Monday to Iran’s interim President Mohammed Mokhber his regret over the death of President Ebrahim Raisi and the Iranian Foreign Minister.

Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro expressed his condolences to the Iranian people this morning following the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the country’s diplomatic chief Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a helicopter crash.
“On behalf of the Portuguese government and myself, I express my sincere condolences to the Iranian people and the families of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian, who died as a result of the tragic incident that occurred this weekend,” Luís Montenegro wrote on his official social media account. X Network, formerly Twitter.
The Red Crescent humanitarian organization announced that Iranian rescue teams have found the remains of Ebrahim Raisi and eight other passengers on a helicopter that crashed Sunday in northwestern Iran on Monday.
The helicopter crashed in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, in the northwest of the country.
Iran’s government confirmed Raisi’s death in a statement, saying the disaster would not cause “any disruption to the governance” of the country.
