Marius Gustafson, a Norwegian national, was sentenced by a London court to a minimum of 22 years in prison for cutting off the genitals of several men and posting the videos on his website, “The Eunuch Maker.” Last year, the man pleaded guilty to 13 counts of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.
Marius cut off the penis and/or testicles of men who asked him to do so. Prosecutor Caroline Carberry said all the men who had the operations consented to the amputations. But since a person cannot legally consent to bodily harm, such procedures constitute a criminal offense even if the people consent.
Genital removal is associated with a subculture of men who aspire to become eunuchs. The prosecutor also said many of the victims were vulnerable and were pressured by Gustafson and his co-defendants to carry out the operations.
The procedures were filmed and posted on the O Criador de Eunucos website, which was used by 23 thousand users. Marius Gustafson earned more than 276 thousand euros from operations between 2017 and 2021.
The Norwegian himself cut off his penis at home in 2017. Later in 2019, his leg had to be amputated after it was immersed in dry ice for too long. The man kept some of the amputated limbs in the freezer at home and even tried to sell them.
