Environment and Energy Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho will receive the Energy Sector Leadership Award given by Eurelectric, the European federation for the sector, the ministry announced on Tuesday.
The award will be received remotely on Wednesday on the occasion of the summit of Eurelectric – the federation of the European electricity industry representing more than 3,500 European companies involved in the generation, distribution and supply of energy – taking place on Wednesday and Thursday. fair in Greece, bringing together the main players in the European energy sector.
The award, according to a release from the Ministry of Environment and Energy, recognizes the work of Maria da Graça Carvalho as an MEP, who led various files related to the energy transition in the European Parliament between 2019 and this year.
In a message sent to the summit, the minister “emphasizes the importance of cooperation between the various ‘stakeholders’ of the sector, as well as their participation in defining European public policy and in the energy transition process.”
As an MEP, the statement said, the current minister was a member of the Commission for Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), participated in the negotiations on the new design of the European electricity market (EMD) and was rapporteur on the Integrity Regulation. and Wholesale Energy Market Transparency (REMIT).
