Football player Christian Atsu rescued alive from rubble of earthquake in Turkey

Fanatic newspaper reports on Tuesday morning that Christian Atsu, a former Porto player who went missing in the Hatay region after a massive earthquake shook Turkey and Syria, was rescued alive.

The player was caught in the quake along with other elements of Hatayspor, the emblem he plays for in Turkey, who also went missing. This morning the vice-president of the club, Mustafa Ozat, assessed the situation on the air of the local radio station. “Christian Atsu is injured. Our sports director Taner Savut, unfortunately, is still under the rubble. Hatay was deeply shocked,” said the manager.

According to Fanatic, Kerim Ali, another Hatayspor player, climbed out of the rubble on his own; football players Bertug Yildirim, Burak Oksuz and the club’s translator were also rescued.
