Coordinating Inspector José Cazador, former director of the disappeared Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), was dismissed this Thursday from his position as director of the Unit for the Control of Borders and Foreigners (UCFE), created after the closure of the SEF in November 2023. .
He was informed of his dismissal by Paulo Viseu Pinheiro, secretary general of the Internal Security System (SSI), under which UCFE operates. The SSI, the organization that brings together all security forces and services, operates under the office of Prime Minister Luis Montenegro.
A replacement has not yet been selected, despite CM found out that it could have come from PSP or GNR.
It should be remembered that this unit, known as the mini-SEF, originated as part of the SEF Extinction Act. It centralized some border control powers that previous security forces had.
