The Socialist leader welcomed Friday’s approval of the last of five measures he presented at the start of the legislature, warning that the PS is not in opposition to “acting like the current body.”
Pedro Nuno Santos spoke to reporters at the end of a plenary vote in which the PS approved a bill to extend the VAT on electricity to 6% for 3.4 million households, the last of five measures it initially adopted. Legislature.
“We managed to achieve approval of all our proposals, one of them was approved by the Council of Ministers. I wanted to record this fact. This is the current parliament, and it is the PS that fulfills its role, its work and seeks approval of its measures,” he emphasized.
The PS Secretary General noted that “the government has so far failed to approve a single proposal in the Assembly of the Republic” and rejected the idea that Luis Montenegro’s executive power is blocked by the opposition.
“Do we have a parliament reduced to SDP and SDS deputies? So, the Portuguese were warned that we were only electing PSD deputies. The SDP has the same number of deputies as the PS,” he said.
Pedro Nuno Santos warned that “the PS here does not act as a body present” in the opposition, but rather “does the job of responding to some of the problems of the Portuguese.”
