More than 320,000 cigarettes were confiscated at the Trophy on Tuesday, which were supposed to have been fraudulently placed on the market and cost the state 54,000 euros in tax evasion, GNR said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the military explained that the seizure was made after a traffic check on Highway 3 (A3) while checking a car, and the driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, was arrested. .
According to GNR, inside the vehicle were “several boxes containing manufactured tobacco, without payment of special taxes levied and in violation of the sealing and stamping rules established by the Special Consumption Tax (IEC) legal regime.”
The value of the seized tobacco, the text says, “is 70,000 euros, and its illegal commercialization would inflict damage on the state in the form of a tax on tobacco products (IT) in the amount of 54,000 euros.”
In addition to tobacco, a sliding stick was seized from the driver.
This Tuesday, the man will be present at the Judicial Court of Santo Tirso in the Porto region.
