Mariana Mortagua accuses the government of placing party people in government offices

The coordinator of the Bloco de Esquerda (BE), Mariana Mortagua, accused the government this Saturday of casting suspicion on the public administration in order not to admit that it wants to appoint people from the party at the head of institutions.

At a lunch meeting in Covilha, in the company of Catarina Martins, head of the BE list in the European elections, Mariana Mortagua pointed the finger at the head of Luis Montenegro for “throwing a blanket of suspicion, incompetence over all public services, not recognizing what they they really want, namely, to change places, to put someone from their party at the head of these institutions.”

The Left Bloc Coordinator acknowledges that it is legitimate for those in power to want people they trust to be at the head of key government bodies, but argues that in this case they should assume this rather than make “a kind of payback to the service audience , which is so important,” which is the opposite of what they stood for during the campaign.

“During the election campaign, the SDP always said that it wanted to take the party away from the state, that the state was hostage to the parties, and now we finally, with time, understand that the plan is not to take the party away from the party. State. The plan is to change the party that governs the state,” said Mariana Mortagua.

According to the BE coordinator, in the first month of Luis Montenegro’s government, she noticed appointments to various bodies and emphasized that the actions of the PSD are not due to incompetence, but follow a “plan” that, according to her, is beginning to become obvious. and that it is “different from the promises made.”

Mariana Mortagua stressed that the government has mistreated public services, stressed that problems such as emergency rotations or problems related to doctors working overtime will continue, and stressed that the intention is to benefit private services.

“The PSD plan for the National Health Service (NHS) is not to preserve the SNS, but to transfer the NHS to private individuals,” stressed Mariana Mortagua.

The bloc leader added that “this government’s commitment is not with the SNS, but with private healthcare, which, as the program says, they want to privilege,” citing as an example their insistence on surgical checks or consultations “that are already have proven that they can’t solve any problem until the investments needed to save social media are made.”

At the same lunchtime rally in Covilha, in the Castelo Branco district, Mariana Mortagua criticized the government for wanting to give “tax breaks” to large companies by cutting the IRC, and that it would be the taxpayers who would pay it.

“IRC will cease to exist and people will have to pay anyway,” he criticized.

According to the BE coordinator, the government measure involves “taking money out of the pockets of all taxpayers who work and pay the IRS to exempt large companies from taxes.”

“The government assumed that the IRC would fall and people would have to pay anyway. They will force taxpayers to pay for higher wages, which the bosses do not want to do,” criticized Mariana Mortagua.
