Chega promises to approve housing support for young people if it is extended to 40 years

Chegi President André Ventura promised this Sunday that his party would approve the housing support provided by the government to young people if it was extended to 40 years.

“We are challenging here, this is a bargaining chip: if the SDP extends the amount of support to 40 years, Chega will vote for the government’s support measures. This is a challenge that I leave here directly to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Housing,” said President Chegi.

Andre Ventura spoke to journalists in Montijo, Setubal district, together with the leader of the Chegi list in the June 9 European elections, António Tangier Correa.

At the European level, he announced that Chega intends to “propose a major European anti-corruption plan so that states are obliged to implement effective measures against corruption, from illicit enrichment to asset confiscation.”

Andre Ventura added that Chega also intends to propose at the European level “that housing and rental support for young people, since there is a real youth problem in the European Union, could be extended to 40 years”, as well as at the national level.

“We are going to propose an extension, including in the Portuguese Parliament, of housing and income support for young people under 40 years of age. And let’s hope that the government is open to negotiations on this diploma and makes it viable,” he said.

President Chegi asked the PSD/CDS-PP government to “have the courage to extend these benefits to 40 years.”

“If this is done, we will have the conditions for rapid approval in parliament, regardless of the PS, regardless of the BU, because we have the majority to be able to approve these measures,” he said.
