The official campaign for the European Union elections begins. Find out where the parties are going

The official campaign for the European elections will begin this Monday, when most parties will concentrate in Lisbon, with the exception of AD, PS and Chega, which will devote the day to the districts south of the Tagus.

In his first election campaign, the head of the Democratic Alliance (AD) list, Sebastián Bugallo, will have a busy day: he will hold five rallies in the south of the country. The candidate will start the day in the Algarve with initiatives in Ollhan and Faro focusing on fisheries and migration, then head to Alentejo with stops in Moura and Reguengos de Monsaraz before ending the day in Évora, where party president and prime minister Luis Montenegro.

Chega will also be in the Algarve and Alentejo, starting the day with a parade in Vila Nova de Milfontes, in the Beja region, and then heading to Albufeira, where he will lead another parade through the city center.

The PS caravan will have the busiest day of all parties, also south of the Tagus and only in the Setúbal area. The head of the list, Marta Temido, will start the day at 7:30 am with contacts with the population in Casillas and will end only at 20:30 with a rally in Almada, which will also be attended by Socialist leader Pedro Nuno Santos.

In addition, all parties with seats in parliament will have initiatives in the Lisbon constituency.

Bloco de Esquerda (BE) will start the day with a visit to the weekly fair in Espinho, Aveiro district, but will soon afterwards head to Lisbon with two initiatives in the municipality of Lures, including a dinner rally in Sacavema. .

The Liberal Initiative (IL) will begin the campaign with actions in the center of the capital: the leader of the party list, João Cotrim de Figueiredo, will take part in a rally in Campo Pequeno in the morning and end the day with a rally-dinner. in Beato, in which leader Rui Rocha will also take part.

The CDU also has a day dedicated exclusively to the Lisbon district, with contacts in the morning with the population in Amadora and two meetings in the afternoon, one of which is dedicated to salaries, in which PCP Secretary General Paulo Raimundo will take part. and another one about culture.

Livre will split the day between the areas of Setúbal and Lisbon. Three hours after the head of the PS list, “number one” Livra Francisco Pauperio, will take a boat ride between Cais do Sodre and Casillas, spend the day in Sintra, visiting the ecological restoration sites of Vale da Adraga and meeting with party members at the Paranoia cafe.

For his part, PAN number one, Pedro Fidalgo Márquez, begins the campaign with two initiatives dedicated to the environment in the Lisbon district: a visit to the technology “startup” Wind Credible in Amadora and a visit to the Instituto Zooófilo. Quinta Carbona, in the municipality of Oeiras.

Some 373 million European voters are called upon to vote for the European Parliament between 6 and 9 June. In Portugal, voting will take place on the 9th.

720 MEPs will be elected, 21 of whom are Portuguese.

A total of 17 parties and coalitions are participating in the elections: AD, PS, Chega, IL, BE, CDU, Livre, PAN, ADN, MAS, Ergue-te, Nova Direita, Volt Portugal, RIR, Nos Cidadaos, MPT and PTP.
