Former PSD leader Pedro Santana López said this Thursday that there is “no reason to punish” the AD in the next European elections and praised the campaign of Sebastian Bugallo, saying that his political future is “prescribed”.

Regarding the independent status of both, the mayor of Figueira da Foz was asked whether they would both be able to become PSD fighters in the near future: “I have never thought about negotiating this with him,” he said, to which Sebastian Bugalho replied that they need to have lunch first.

The former prime minister was more pessimistic about the future of the European Union, saying he hoped the next term of MEPs, who will be elected on June 9, “will not be the last” in the current European format.
“Usually in Europe there are 50-year cycles. [de paz], we have already surpassed. Europe will continue, Portugal will continue, will it be the same Europe when this mandate ends…” he warned, declaring that the world was experiencing a pre-war climate and acknowledging that the European project could be at stake.

“As an independent, I am also particularly pleased to see the support of an independent mayor who has been prime minister and MEP,” he said.
The initiative also brought together European Parliament candidates Lidia Pereira – the only sitting MEP and program coordinator – and Ana Miguel Pedro, nominated by the CDS-PP.
The mayor of Figueira da Foz explained to Sebastian Bugalho the main projects planned in the city to combat coastal erosion and install offshore wind farms.
“This investment is very important for the entire region, the Central region is the most neglected in the country,” says Santana Lopez, who received instructions from Bugallo that the coordinator of the AD program comes from this area of the country.
They talked about railways, and Sebastian Bugalho took the opportunity to criticize the PS for not having a “line” on the topic in its program for the European Parliament.
