The baby was born on a bus in Valencia. The father, passengers and even the driver helped with the birth

Any public transport passenger can admit that they have experienced more turbulent journeys, which can range from painful moments to hilarious episodes that will be remembered later.

The story that happened on the bus of the Municipal Transport Company of Valencia in Spain surpasses most others. During Thursday’s morning drive, the woman gave birth at 7:30 a.m., with her father, the driver of the car and several passengers present, El País reported.

As soon as he was informed about the birth, the driver hurriedly deviated from the route to change his usual destination to the hospital. “I didn’t give you a choice [aos passageiros]but they understood,” said the driver, quoted by the Spanish newspaper.

Despite rushing to the hospital, when he finally parked outside the emergency room, the baby had already been born. The child and mother are healthy and received medical care from medical workers who ran outside after hearing the shrill horn of the passenger transport.

The woman showed signs of discomfort

When the couple entered Valencia Ambulance Route 93, which crosses much of the Spanish city, the woman was already showing some signs of discomfort, but nothing to predict the outcome.

Shortly after they boarded, the woman went into labor. Another passenger approached the driver with some excitement to inform him that the pregnant woman’s water had broken.

Antonio, 53 and with 23 years of experience working in transport in Valencia, stopped the car and realized the birth was imminent, to the point where he saw “the baby and the umbilical cord,” he says.

“I told everyone not to ask them to stop, that I was going to go off the route straight to the hospital,” he explained.

The bus flew through the morning traffic, passing the orange traffic lights of the city of Valencia. “Before arriving at the hospital, I heard a baby crying and people shouting: “already born,” “already born.” I left them with the healthcare workers and people cheered like it was a party. I told them, “Rise again.” ‘; and I returned to my usual route, I didn’t even have a choice,” he added.

The episode was very fast

The reports described a very short episode, lasting just five minutes, that occurred with the help of the father and passengers, with the woman warning the driver to take a more active role in the birth. Most of the people on the bus tried to help, but didn’t know how to do it.

“90% of the trip participants were going to work,” the driver estimated.

This is the second such episode on the EMT bus. The first happened in 2012.
