The religious gathering that brought Pope Francis to Portugal attracted more than 400,000 registered pilgrims from every country in the world except the Maldives. According to WYD, pilgrim contributions and registrations reached 74.5 million euros. In terms of expenses, €41.7 million was spent on “external supplies and services” and €1.1 million on personnel costs, among other expenses.
“The amount received from the meeting will later be used to develop youth support projects to be implemented in the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures,” says the JMJ Foundation.
