The left bloc was this morning at the Republic Square in the Viseu Town Hall, where it joined a demonstration against the overnight closure of the pediatric service at the Viseu Hospital, in the presence of the head of the European elections list, Catarina. Martins and national coordinator Mariana Mortagua.
Katarina Martins spoke about the importance of the European Commission in defining health policies that will help avoid “the closure of services of this type.”
They believe the government “needs to hire more health workers and improve wage conditions.”
“We cannot continue to train the best doctors in Europe and then see them leave the country,” said Katarina Martins.
“A new government that promises the same things as the previous leader cannot emerge,” said coordinator Mariana Mortagua.
Both oppose private companies and defend the publicly funded National Health Service.
