The Chegi leader spoke to reporters at the start of a visit to the Lisbon book fair as part of the campaign for the European elections. “If they don’t abolish the CPLP visa status, which is absurd and doesn’t exist in any other country in Europe, if they continue to have an open door policy for everyone, if we continue to not require five years. If you want to access CPLP subsidies, social security, paid for by Portuguese taxes, you can be sure that we will vote against it,” he said.
Andre Ventura believes that the Prime Minister has “disappointed in terms of the fight against illegal immigration” and that the head of government’s signal is “useless.”

President Chegi lamented that the country had arrived “for the European elections without knowing what the rules are” and believed that “Luis Montenegro has a chance to stop immigration until the situation is resolved,” as the party proposed on Friday.
