Chega will vote against if immigration measures are ‘weak’

This Saturday, President Chegi foresaw that if the government presented “absolutely soft” immigration measures, his party would vote against it.

“I don’t know what measures the prime minister will introduce. If they are completely soft anti-immigration measures, you can be sure that we will vote against them” if they have to pass parliament, he said.

The Chegi leader spoke to reporters at the start of a visit to the Lisbon book fair as part of the campaign for the European elections. Andre Ventura commented on the statements of Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, who promised news on the situation at the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) next week.

“If they don’t abolish the CPLP visa status, which is absurd and doesn’t exist in any other country in Europe, if they continue to have an open door policy for everyone, if we continue to not require five years. If you want to access CPLP subsidies, social security, paid for by Portuguese taxes, you can be sure that we will vote against it,” he said.

Andre Ventura believes that the Prime Minister has “disappointed in terms of the fight against illegal immigration” and that the head of government’s signal is “useless.”

“I don’t really believe the prime minister’s words,” he said.

President Chegi lamented that the country had arrived “for the European elections without knowing what the rules are” and believed that “Luis Montenegro has a chance to stop immigration until the situation is resolved,” as the party proposed on Friday.

Andre Ventura also took the opportunity to speak to the panel investigating the case of the twins treated with the drug Zolgensma, and referred to the TVI report released Friday, which indicates that the doctor who treated the two children wrote in an “email” that the children’s mother- The twins told him that he had all the signatures guaranteeing treatment, “even the Minister of Health.”

“I’m sure that if it weren’t for PS, I would have opened all modern newspapers, but PS, as it is, goes through raindrops,” he criticized.

Noting that former Secretary of State António Lacerda Sales will be heard on Thursday before a commission of inquiry following the mandatory request his party submitted to the Assembly of the Republic, President Chegi expressed hope that the former ruler would clarify “who was responsible for the outlaw appointment for Brazilian twins using Portuguese tax money.”

Chegi’s coordinator in the investigative commission also indicated that he would take advantage of the potential right to summon Marta Temido to parliament, but not during the election campaign, “not to say that this is electoralism,” since the socialist heads the list of PS in Europe,

As for justifying the use of the potential right to a hearing in the Lacerda Sales case, when several parties had already demanded a hearing, President Chegi refused, citing that it was a political advantage.

Pointing out that “potential is not voted upon”, Ventura argued that “it has nothing to do with a date, it deals with a challenge whether others want it or not” and that “in the case of PS and PSD it never exists from Start”.

During this campaign event, Ventura and list leader Tanger Correia walked through the book fair grounds, with the party president often asked to take “selfies” with young people and cheered as he passed through the booths.

Chega’s delegation even clashed with the leader of the Nos Cidadaos party, Pedro Ladeira, who admitted to Ventura that he recommended voting for Chega in the legislative elections.

When asked about buying books at the event and if he already had a book from his European candidate [Do Transiberiano ao Médio Oriente]Andre Ventura began by saying that he “hasn’t found anything yet,” but he already has works by Tanger Correia.

The tour of the fair ended with Andre Ventura and Tanger Correia playing the final moves of a game of checkers in which the son beat the father.

Asked what book he suggested to the IL candidate after João Cotrim Figueiredo said he would give Tangier The Kremlin Conspiracy, list leader Chega chose to recommend political science courses.

“A representative of a ‘woke’ neo-Marxist party comes to tell a party with Christian Democratic roots that he is close to the Kremlin? The best thing is to go to treatment,” he exclaimed.
