The CDU says its two MEPs have done more for the country than anyone else

The head of the CDU’s European list on Wednesday said the coalition’s two MEPs had “done more” for the country than everyone else, with the PKP secretary general calling on the media to make comparisons.

Speaking at a rally in Braga, João Oliveira once again made a strong call to vote for the CDU, asking people to ask themselves who voted for other political forces in the last European elections in 2019, “what their vote was worth to them.” “.

Among the various criticisms he made, the CDU candidate said that these parties adopted single market and commercial policy rules that “led to the complete elimination of national productive sectors” and also followed “the policies of the European Commission and the Central Bank of the European Union (ECB) on wage restraint.”

“And asking every person what benefit he has from those deputies who, back in the European Parliament, did the exact opposite of what they said here, we must ask them what the same mistake of voting for the same parties will cost them,” He said.

Joao Oliveira said that, unlike other political parties, the work done by the CDU “shows that two CDU deputies are worth more than seven or eight deputies from each of these parties.”

“Because two CDU deputies have done more for the people and the country over the past five years than all the others elected by other parties,” he said.

This idea was also defended by PCP general secretary Paulo Raimundo, who spoke after João Oliveira, and argued that other parties did not want to talk about “what they did” in Strasbourg.

At this point, the PKP leader called on the media to make a comparison of what had been done by the two CDU MEPs “and all the other MPs.”

“If they do this, then I will definitely present the results no earlier than Sunday. I will present them on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Oops, imagine them after San Juan, it doesn’t matter, but please imagine this comparison. We are here without any fear,” he said.

According to Paulo Raimundo, without the CDU, Portugal would no longer have “someone in the European Parliament who would defend the rights of workers, people and the country.”

“We cannot leave this voice, this courage and determination, we cannot leave it to the will of others whether it will be in the European Parliament or not. We know very well that this is the dream of some, but it is not the need of everyone living and working here,” he said.

In this speech, the General Secretary of the PKP once again insisted on the idea that the CDU is not against Europe, but intends to save it, namely from injustice and inequality, and declared that “this is exactly what they need.” come and say that you can talk about Europe about everything except the problems of Portugal.”

“We want to save Europe, but be careful: Portugal is still part of Europe. And therefore, if there are problems in Portugal, then there are problems in Europe,” he said.

The PKP leader said he understands that there are those who want to “talk about trifles, about very important issues, about so-called European politics, about the transitions of this and that, about the big problems of Europe,” but added that these “big challenges » These are topics such as wages, reforms, access to healthcare or peace.

“They don’t want to talk about it because they have a narrow arse,” he accused.

At the beginning of the rally, the president of the Association of Portuguese Writers, José Manuel Mendes, announced that in these elections he would vote for the CDU, emphasizing that these European elections would be “one of the most significant elections in history” and that they needed to strengthen those “committed to freedom” in the face of “the onslaught of hatred.”
