Bugalho accuses the “doer” Pedro Nuno of not liking the government “that does something”

The head of the AD list for Europeans criticized this Wednesday the self-proclaimed “doer” leader of the PS for feeling uncomfortable with the PSD/CDU-PP government, “which is finally doing something.”

At a rally in Famalicana, attended by about a thousand people, Sebastián Bugallo also left a note for the majority of pessimists who consider it “impossible for AD to win these European elections” after four consecutive victories between national and regional elections. .

“After this campaign, if there’s one thing I feel, it’s that it’s not impossible. The Portuguese cannot trust us because we know that although it is not easy, it is not impossible,” he said at the rally, where he left the stage on his shoulders with a European flag in his hands.

The MEP candidate said at the end of his speech that he wanted to leave a “more ironic note” for PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos.

“I see with irony that the leader of the PS, who proclaimed himself a doer, is so uncomfortable with the government, which is finally doing something. When there was an activist in the government, nothing was done. Now that AD is in the government, it is inconvenient for the doer because everything has already been done,” he criticized.

And he left a wish: “Let him continue to be bothered, and let AD continue to do something.”

Sebastian Bugallo, who reiterates that he does not want to nationalize the campaign, argues that the choice next Sunday is “very simple”: “Between people and personal attacks, between proposals to improve people’s lives and the promises of someone who did not fulfill them when he governed and which will not be implemented in the European Parliament.”

“How does someone who couldn’t govern Portugal try to help govern Europe? The choice is between those who want to carry out their program and those who want to interfere with the program of those who won the elections,” he said.

In his speech, Bugalho thanked Nuno Melo, who was campaigning for the second time, “for resurrecting the party from the ashes and making it a government again.”

“I, as a citizen, thank you for reviving Christian democracy from scratch to govern,” said the independent candidate, asking his “social democratic friends to forgive him” for this.

On European issues, the former TV commentator highlighted some of AD’s election program proposals, such as a card giving benefits to citizens over 65 or the appointment of a European Commissioner for SMEs, and vowed to champion groups that are “often forgotten” like farmers or fishermen.

“Some will tell us that it is impossible to work on this again, and to that I will answer: no, it is not impossible. With AD, the impossible will become necessary and the necessary will become accomplished,” he said.

Previously “number two” on the list and PSD vice-president Paulo Cunha made one of the first calls of the AD campaign against abstinence, hoping that next Sunday “Portugal will be noticed by the level of attendance.” in the European elections.”

“We want a clear mandate from the Portuguese next Sunday. “Whether we win or lose is not indifferent, it is important not only to know whether we elect deputies, but to know whether we are the obvious choice for the Portuguese,” he said.

The former mayor of Famalicão addressed in particular those who, in the legislative elections, “hesitated and did not realize that AD’s proposal was a sign of change.”

“Today they are clear: if there is one thing that is clear in the election campaign, it is satisfaction with the Portuguese government,” he said.

The PSD leader said it was necessary to “cherish this government” and provide it with “the conditions to carry out its mandate” even in the context of “great adversities, parliamentary blockades and unexpected coalitions, with the sole purpose of preventing the PSD from acting.” government”.
