The head of the CoP list for Europeans, Marta Temido, said she would ask European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to “take the side of those who help the European project” if she could speak to her today.
“I would welcome her with love and advise her to take a position on the side that helps the European project, and not on the side of those who want to sink the European project,” he stressed.
Marta Temido was responding to journalists after being asked about the participation this Thursday of the President of the European Commission and candidate of the European People’s Party for a second term, Ursula von der Leyen, in the Democratic Alliance campaign for the European elections.
The MEP candidate recalled that she worked with Ursula von der Leyen when she was health minister and Portugal and Europe were going through “very difficult” times due to the pandemic.
After interacting with the population at the municipal market of Figueira da Foz, where she was warmly greeted with applause, Marta Temida refused to comment on whether the presence of the President of the European Commission would give new impetus to AD’s candidacy or whether it would further undermine the candidacy.
“Only the AD candidate can say this. Perhaps it is important today to have a conversation between Ms von der Leyen, who represents the European People’s Party and who has a number of proposals in her manifesto that the AD says she does not agree with. , and that he will work in a slightly different direction,” he sneers.
