“I did not know anything, I insist”, assured Marta Temido, former Minister of Health, reacting to the searches carried out this Thursday in the Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon, in the home of Lacerda Sales and in her office at the Secretariat of the State Department of Health and Institutions social security.
We are talking about the investigation into the case of Portuguese-Brazilian twins treated in 2020 in Santa Maria with the drug Zolgensma, for a total of four million euros.
“Being in politics is a matter of character, and it is a matter of looking at people face to face and saying: I have nothing to do with this. Now the structures themselves will conduct their own investigation,” said Marta Temido.
“Ministers do not authorize drugs,” Temido told reporters, indicating a willingness to provide clarification.
Asked if she had spoken to Lacerda Sales, Temido said “not in the last few days.”
“The last time I spoke with António Lacerda Sales, who was my secretary of state and we worked together and did a job, which I think the Portuguese will recognize was because of his years, I sent him congratulations,” said He.
