Marta Temido says her party does not ally with those who betray European values

The head of the PS list for Europeans this Thursday guaranteed that his party will not enter into alliances with those who betray European values, criticizing the readiness of the AD and the European People’s Party to unite with the far right.

“Unlike AD and the European People’s Party, we do not share the willingness of the right to form alliances with the far right, betraying European values and whitewashing, facilitating everything that the far right represents,” Marta Temido said in her report. campaign for elections to the European Parliament.

Marta Temido was speaking at a European meeting this evening in Aveiro with the participation of former Environment Minister Duarte Cordeiro and PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos.

During her speech, the former health minister accused the far right of having the sole goal of destroying the European project from within.

“Unlike AD, the European People’s Party, we do not support Ms. Meloni from Italy, whose political actions have led to the erosion of labor rights, increased police repression, a reduction in the space for demonstrations, a reduction in the rights of LGBTQI families, as well as measures that impede access women to fully enjoy their sexual and reproductive rights,” he said.

In front of an audience full of activists, Marta Temido recalled that AD includes the People’s Monarchist Party, an “anti-European party” that defended the referendum on Portugal’s exit from the European Union.

“Once again we know very well whose side we are on: we are on the side of a European Portugal and a strong and supportive Europe,” he added.

At the end of the penultimate day of the campaign, the head of the PS list called for mobilization and voting on the 9th.

“Next Sunday we will decide what kind of Europe we want and who will run Europe: it will be an important decision that will determine the fate of Europe and Portugal for the next five years. “There are two different visions at stake: a Europe that inspires us and a Europe of fear, a Europe of progress and a Europe of regression,” he concluded.
